Toastmaster's meeting 8-4-09

Hi Everyone,

Just a note to thank everyone for a wonderful Toastmaster's meeting 8-4-09. As acting secretary I wanted to thank Steve Bush our Toastmaster for a well run meeting! Bill did a wonderful job as first time introduction master and Mark told a great joke which we could all visualize. Pat facilitated a discussion on what one can do when facing a job loss. Brian Bothe came out from behind the lectern and gave a very funny speech on our evolving genetic predispositions. Betsy improvised as timekeeper without the use of our A130(or whatever it is called). Our evaluators were excellent, thank you John, Linda, Carolyn and Maria. Gini presented a challenging Table Topics session in which Steve, Mark and Bill stepped up for the challenge. Harry and Linda managed to find a few areas in which we could improve our grammar and leave out our filler words and sounds. We had one guest this morning, Chip Madera an accomplished speaker. We look forward to having Chip join our group. Just a reminder, August 25th we will be meeting at the Hilton in Biltmore Park( right beside the movie theater). We will have a national known guest speaker, Chip Madera, yes the same as our visitor this morning. He has a great web site check him out.(www.chipmadera.com) The meeting will begin at 7:00am (get there early) and run until 8:15am as per our normal schedule. This would be a wonderful opportunity to invite guests. Our meeting that would normally run on Aug. 25th will be rescheduled to run the first week in October. See you next week. Our Toastmaster for August 11th is Maria Harwood

What a great meeting we had

What a great meeting we had yesterday morning. A great way to kick off the New Year! Betsy Finger led the way as our Toastmaster. She came prepared, was very organized and did a nice job of finding replacements for last minute no shows. Marilyn Martin gave an entertaining speech on gift giving. We could all relate and enjoyed starting our day with laughter. Harry Paly stepped up to the plate and gave us a very funny impromptu speech on his camp experiences. Steve Bush planned a wonderful group of Table Topics. We had time to do six, which is a great way to learn to think on our feet. Pat Case gave the best Table Topics speech about Winston Churchill I have ever heard. We can all learn from her passion and ability to quote famous people. Shawn Pyfrom filled several roles and won best evaluation. To all of those who couldn’t make it, we missed you and look forward to seeing you next Tuesday. Scheduled speeches are Gini Locke, Steve Bush and Brian Roberts. Our Toastmaster is Pat Case.
